Frequently asked questions

Reminders for those who are participating for the first time or haven't ever even attended a online lecture.

What is the training method?

We are primarily positive only, with the occasional dose of strict and stern corrections. Corrections are the most necessary for dogs with a bite history risk or displaying aggression. The corrections are humane and typically consist of redirection, turning away, walking away, or an upwards sharp pull with the leash as if you were lifting a bucket off the ground. Pressure and very stern voices are our main tools as the methodology focuses on maintaining and building a trust bond with your dog. This means that results may take longer to show, but the results will have a more long term impact over time.

What are the logistics details?

The event will be held in a public space, outdoors if it rains, and under a shelter if it rains in and around Pompano Beach, FL which is just slightly north of Fort Lauderdale downtown. This location was chosen for it's balanced environment which should be below or at threshold for most reactive dogs coming out of a rural or deeply suburban living area.

Students, after purchasing a session, will receive an email to confirm a time and place. I will try to be as flexible as possible as to the timing so that it fits your schedule best as possible within this three day Memorial Weekend window.

What should I wear?

Please dress comfortably in sports or casual clothes. Jeans are recommended if the weather is not too hot. Closed toed shoes are a must.

What do I do to prepare?

Our website blog is a wealth of free knowledge that you can browse before attending an in person session!

Make sure your dog has not eaten before you attend. A hungry dog is a focused dog!

Bring water and treats or for your dog.

Muzzle your dog if needed.

Keep your dog secure with a sturdy leash and collar.

Why in-person?

We operate primarily online but due to student demand, we are offering in person sessions "out in the wild", meaning out in public with all the triggers and issues that you'd naturally see with your dog. This provides a realistic venue for us to diagnose and understand your pet beyond verbal descriptions.

Will you provide training tools?

No, at the session, I will not be bringing any equipment such as muzzles, leashes, etc. Just bring what you have at home for now.

I will offer a few broad suggestions on what to buy and where to buy certain items.

We have an online shop with some recommended styles for muzzles, and other tools located at the link in our Instagram Bio and above "Our Shop".

Note, that we do earn a tiny commission if you happen to purchase through that link. The price for you will not change, but it's a small token for us.

We specifically curated this tool list for cost efficiency, usefulness, and general fit for the types of issues we most often see.
